Pre-Session Style Guide: How to Arrive Camera-Ready

1. Wardrobe: Structuring Your Power Profile

To achieve a dominant, high-fashion corporate look, your clothing choices must project structure, contrast, and sharp lines.

  • The Power Blazer: Bring a well-tailored blazer with structured shoulder pads. Sharp lines inherently project authority.

  • High-Contrast Palettes: Deep blacks, crisp whites, rich navy, or bold emerald green look exceptional under high-fashion studio lighting. Avoid washed-out pastels.

  • Texture Over Prints: Opt for rich textures (like heavy crepe, silk, or fine wool) rather than busy patterns, which can distract from your face.

  • Fit is Everything: Ensure all garments are pressed, lint-free, and fit perfectly. Studio lighting highlights wrinkles and ill-fitting seams.

2. Hair & Makeup: Camera-Ready Perfection

Because I do not provide in-studio styling, arriving camera-ready ensures your session time is maximized entirely on capturing your best angles.

  • The Matte Finish: Studio strobe lights amplify shine. Apply a matte primer and foundation, and bring translucent setting powder for quick touch-ups.

  • Defined Eyes & Lips: Camera flashes soften makeup by 20% to 30%. Define your eyes with subtle eyeliner and choose a bold, confident lip colour that matches your professional persona.

  • Polished Hair: Style your hair to withstand movement. Use a smoothing serum to tame flyaways, as studio lighting catches loose hairs easily.

  • Manicure Check: Your hands will likely feature in powerful, dominant poses (e.g., crossed arms, hand on hip, or framing the face). Ensure nails are clean, manicured, and neutral or boldly polished.

3. Preparation Timeline

  • The Night Before: Get plenty of hydration and sleep. Avoid heavy salt intake to prevent under-eye puffiness.

  • The Morning Of: Pack your outfits on hangers. Arrive at our Massey East studio completely dressed and styled in your first look to maximise your shooting time.
